How to build a WhatsApp bot for your business in Egypt — step by step

Last reviewed: 2026-11-03 · Youssef Alsherief

A WhatsApp bot answers your customers at any hour, takes orders and bookings, and hands the chat to you when you need to step in. This guide takes you from zero to your first customer talking to the bot.

1. Decide exactly what the bot will do

Before any setup, write down the 5 questions customers ask most and the task that eats your time: orders? appointments? quotes? shipment follow-ups? A successful bot starts with one clear job, then grows.

  • Store or supermarket: show products and take orders with the address
  • Clinic or center: book an appointment or a seat in a group
  • Factory or company: collect complete quote requests
  • Customer service: answer frequent questions and pass the rest to staff

2. Start on Telegram today, prepare WhatsApp in parallel

Official WhatsApp needs a dedicated business number and Meta verification, which takes time. So you don't wait, build and test the bot on Telegram for free with no paperwork, and add WhatsApp when it's ready — same replies, same setup.

3. Prepare the WhatsApp number and verification

Official WhatsApp (Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API) needs a Meta Business account and a dedicated number that isn't used on the regular WhatsApp app. Business verification with Meta is easier with a commercial register and tax card; if you don't have them, our team prepares the paperwork, and the final decision is always Meta's.

Not sure your business is ready? The WhatsApp readiness page asks 4 questions and tells you the best path.

4. Build the bot's replies without code

In BotYalla you pick a ready template (store · booking · FAQ · customer service) or let the setup agent ask a few questions about your business and build the whole bot, with a preview before you apply it.

With the bot brain on, the bot understands free-form messages and answers from the business info you wrote — it doesn't invent what isn't there, it passes it to you.

5. Let a human step in at any time

The inbox shows every conversation; tap “Take over” and the bot goes quiet for that customer while you reply. On WhatsApp, manual replies are possible within 24 hours of the customer's last message — that's Meta's rule.

6. Bring your customers to the bot

A bot nobody knows about does nothing. Put its link or QR code in your bio, your ads (Click-to-WhatsApp), invoices, shop door and your page's welcome message.

  • A direct WhatsApp link in your ads
  • A printed QR next to the till
  • A message to existing customers who agreed to hear from you
